Download & Install

Before connecting a site, you need an ElizaWP account and the plugin installed on your WordPress site.

1. Sign up at elizawp.com/signup (or use Continue with Google).
2. Once you're in your dashboard, click Download plugin at the top of the Projects page. This downloads the ElizaWP plugin as a .zip file.
3. In your WordPress site's admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the .zip file you just downloaded, and click Install Now.
4. Once it's installed, click Activate.

Activating the plugin redirects you straight to its setup page, covered next.

Getting Started

After you activate the ElizaWP plugin on your WordPress site, you're redirected straight to the setup page. From there:

1. Click Continue with ElizaWP. You'll be taken to the ElizaWP portal to sign in.
2. Create a new project (or link an existing one, if you've already connected another site to the same account) and give it a name.
3. On your project's page, connect Google Search Console (click Continue with Google, and if your account has more than one verified property, choose the right one).
4. Add your SerpApi key. Don't have one? You can get a free key at serpapi.com. Your key is verified live against SerpApi before it's saved.
5. Once both are connected, click Finish and return to WordPress. You'll land back on the setup page in your WordPress admin.

Disconnecting a site later (from the plugin's Settings tab) only unlinks it locally, it doesn't delete your project or its connections, so you can reconnect at any time.

Compatibility

• SEO plugins: compatible with Yoast SEO and Rank Math, and works even without any SEO plugin installed, header tags, schema, and structured data are unaffected either way. SEO title, meta description, and focus keyword fields specifically require Yoast SEO or Rank Math to be active.
• Page builders (content writing): currently supports the WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) and the Classic Editor for writing and publishing content.

The Setup Wizard

The setup page has two steps.

Step 1: Continue with ElizaWP

This step shows your live connection status:

• Not connected: click Continue with ElizaWP to start.
• Setup incomplete: connected, but Search Console, SerpApi, or both still need finishing on the portal.
• Connected, untested: run a live test to confirm the agent can actually reach your site.
• Verified: the connection is confirmed working, Step 2 unlocks.
• Test failed: a specific reason is shown (e.g. a timeout, an invalid API key, or a host blocking loopback requests), with a Retry test button.

The moment you return here after finishing the portal side, ElizaWP automatically runs this test for you, no extra click needed. This is a real, live check, not just a stored "connected" flag, so it catches problems like an invalid or regenerated API key immediately.

Step 2: Site Discovery

Once your connection is verified, click Start Site Discovery. You're taken straight to the Chat tab, where the agent automatically starts working, live, in front of you. See the next section for what it actually does.

Using the Chat

The Chat tab is where you talk to the agent directly. It's a real SEO specialist with real write access to your site, not a generic chatbot bolted on top, ask it for anything below and it will actually do the work, not just describe how you'd do it yourself:

Content, written and published for you

• Write a full, publish-ready blog post, landing page, comparison page, or help article, researched and built around a real target keyword, not generic filler
• Every post is saved as a draft by default, nothing goes live without your review, unless you explicitly tell it to publish or schedule
• Rewrite or expand an existing page's content, headings, or structure

Research, grounded in real data

• Keyword research organized by search intent and funnel stage (top, middle, bottom), with real average monthly search volume when Google Ads/Keyword Planner is connected
• Live Google search results for any keyword: who currently ranks, what titles/snippets win, what content format dominates
• Deep competitor research: a full competitor profile, a side-by-side comparison against your own site, or a content/keyword gap analysis, all built from real pages it actually fetched and read, not assumptions
• Real Search Console performance: actual clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and ranking position by query or page, plus striking-distance keyword opportunities already close to ranking

Audits

• On-page SEO audit of any URL: title tags, meta description, heading structure, keyword usage, internal linking, content depth, with a prioritized fix list
• Technical SEO check: crawlability, mobile-friendliness signals, canonical/robots signals, and site speed red flags, including a real sitemap check
• Keyword density extraction from any page, to see exactly which terms and phrases it's actually built around

Directly on your site

• Set SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, canonical URL, and robots directives on any post (via Yoast SEO if it's active, with a manual fallback if it isn't)
• Write Schema.org JSON-LD structured data for rich-result eligibility, covering articles, products, FAQs, how-tos, reviews, events, and every other type Google supports
• Set custom header tags site-wide, per post type, or on one specific post or page
• Find real internal linking opportunities by building a live index of your site's actual pages, titles, and meta descriptions

While the agent is working, you'll see live progress, exactly which step it's on (querying Search Console, searching the web, building your site index, updating SEO fields, and so on), not just a spinner. The agent also has persistent memory across every conversation, not just the current one, so you don't need to re-explain your site, past decisions, or research it's already done. Click New chat any time to start a fresh conversation.

Site Discovery

Site Discovery is a one-time (or re-runnable) scan that gives the agent a real baseline understanding of your site. When you start it, the agent automatically:

• Builds a full index of your site and summarizes what it's about
• Checks your Search Console performance, if connected (and tells you plainly if it isn't, rather than guessing)
• Runs a competitor and content gap analysis
• Saves everything it finds to memory, organized by topic
• Finishes with a summary and one recommended next step

You can re-run Site Discovery at any time from the Settings tab's "Re-run site discovery / setup wizard" link.

Dashboard

The Dashboard tab gives you an at-a-glance view of real search performance and site activity:

• Search Performance: real Search Console data: clicks, impressions, average CTR, and average position, each compared against the previous period, plus a clicks-over-time chart
• Top Queries & Top Pages: your best-performing search terms and pages for the selected period
• Keywords Improving in Ranking: queries that moved up meaningfully (3 or more positions) between the two periods
• Content: published and draft counts across every post type on your site
• Recent Activity: the 5 most recent actions the agent has taken

You can choose a custom date range, or click Refresh to force a fresh pull instead of the cached hourly snapshot.

Header Tags & Schema

You don't need to write schema yourself. Just ask the agent in the Chat tab, for example "add Review schema to this page" or "audit this post's schema and fix what's missing," and it writes real, valid Schema.org JSON-LD for the correct type (article, product, FAQ, how-to, review, event, and every other rich-result type Google supports) and applies it directly, based on the page's actual content, not a placeholder. The Schema tab described below is for reviewing what's set and making manual changes yourself, it's not the only way schema gets written.

The Schema tab lets you view and set custom header tags and JSON-LD structured data at three levels:

• Site-wide: applies to every page on your site
• Post-type: applies to every single post of a given type (not its archive)
• Post-type archive: applies only to that type's listing page, and supports schema too

Per-post header tags and schema, whether set by you or written by the agent, are managed directly from that post's own editor screen. Taxonomy term archives (a single category or tag page) aren't covered by any of the levels above.

Activity Log

The Activity tab is a real record of every action the agent has taken on your site: content changes, header and schema updates, and search research (Search Console queries, keyword lookups, live SERP checks). Each entry shows when it happened, what it was, the details, and whether it succeeded.

Settings & Disconnecting

The Settings tab shows your current connection status, and gives you two actions:

• Regenerate API key: immediately invalidates the current key and issues a new one
• Disconnect: unlinks this site locally. This does not delete your project or its connections on the portal, you can reconnect at any time

To permanently delete a project and all of its data (memory, site index, saved research), use the "Delete project" option under Danger zone on the project's page in the ElizaWP portal, this is a separate, more permanent action than disconnecting.
